The City of Calgary Community Services and Protective Services has partnered with the Calgary Sport & Social Club to provide exclusive leagues for City of Calgary Employees. The program was created to develop proactive programs in health, wellness and safety within the City of Calgary workplace on an ongoing basis.
The program goal is to:
- Increase fitness levels among employees
- Reduce stress; enhance work-life balance
- Improve overall employee wellness
- Improve social networks
Contribute to business & work unit team building
League Offerings for the Spring 2010 Season
Thursday Recreational Ultimate
Spring 2010 Schedules Standings
Description:
This division is for teams or individuals who are new to the sport or wish to play in a league with a slower pace.
Format:
It’s a 5 on 5 game, with a minimum of 2 females on the field at all times. 8 week regular season and 1 week playoffs. Game start times are between 6:15pm and 6:45pm. Leagues will begin April 24th and end no later than July 1st.
Cost: $400 per team for the first 6 teams that register (The City of Calgary will partially sponsor the fees).
If registering after the first 6 teams have been accepted, the team fee with be $525.
Equipment:
The Event Coordinator will bring the equipment.
Waivers:
All players and subs must complete the online waiver before playing. Click Here to fill out the waiver.

How Do I Register:

A minimum of 4 players must be registered with complete contact info for the Captain and Co-captain. The maximum players on the form is 11, but you may carry more than this on your team. Please note that ALL roster players must be City of Calgary Employees.

Tuesday Recreational Indoor Volleyball
Winter 2010 Schedules Standings
Description:
For new players or teams with new players. Little bumping and setting. Teams will try for 3 hits. No hard hitting allowed. Team Goal: Get it over the net - it doesn't matter how!
Format:
It’s a 6 on 6 game, with a minimum of 2 females on the court at all times. 8 week regular season and 1 week playoffs. Game times are between 6:45pm and 11:00pm. Leagues will begin January 19th and end no later than April 13th.
Cost: $330 per team for the first 6 teams that register (The City of Calgary will partially sponsor the fees).
If registering after the first 6 teams have been accepted, the team fee with be $445.
Equipment:
The Event Coordinator will have high caliber Wilson volleyballs, scorecards and clips. Nets and standards are stored at the facility.

Sunday Recreational Floor Hockey
Fall 2009 Schedules
Standings
Description:
This division will see teams that may have some skilled players, but typically the team as a whole does not have a lot of experience playing any form of hockey. Passing, shooting and goaltending is unpredictable as some teams learn the sport better than others. There is a big emphasis on fun first.
Format:
It’s a 5 on 5 game including the goalies, with a minimum of 2 females on the floor at all times. 7 week regular season and 2 week playoffs. Game times are between 2:00pm and 6:00pm with the exception of November 29th (Grey Cup) which will be 10:00am - 2:00pm. Leagues will begin October 18th and end on December 6th.
Cost: $350 per team for the first 6 teams that register (The City of Calgary will partially sponsor the fees).
If registering after the first 6 teams have been accepted, the team fee with be $650.
Equipment:
Player sticks, a goalie stick, a goalie mask and game balls are provided by the CSSC. Teams must provide the remaining goalie equipment (blocker, glove, leg pads, etc). The only non supplied sticks allowed are the DOM ‘Elite’ or DOM ‘Street Thunder’ sticks.

Tuesday Intermediate Indoor Volleyball
Fall 2009 Schedules Standings
Description:
For players and teams with a mixed skill level. Three hits is the goal, with decent bumping and setting. Expect to see some hitting and blocking, although hard hitting is not encouraged and you will typically not see strong or organized attacks. Team Goal: try to have 3 touches on every play.
Format:
It’s a 6 on 6 game, with a minimum of 2 females on the court at all times. 8 week regular season and 1 week playoffs. Game times are between 6:45pm and 11:00pm. Leagues will begin October 20th and end on December 15th.
Cost: $250 per team for the first 6 teams that register (The City of Calgary will partially sponsor the fees).
If registering after the first 6 teams have been accepted, the team fee with be $445.
