2009 CSSC INDOOR VOLLEYBALL
INFORMATION
|
General Description |
Be a part of one of the CSSC’s most popular
sports. Practice your digging, blocking, setting and hitting in the division
that suits your skill level. The CSSC offers Recreational, Intermediate,
Intermediate Plus and Competitive divisions. All leagues are 6 on 6 with a
minimum of two females on the court at all times. There is an Event
Coordinator on-site to update players on CSSC happenings and to get the games
started, however, players are expected to call their fouls and manage their
own game. Each team plays two opponents in best of three matches each night.
Games are played at medium (Rec and Int divisions) and large sized (Int Plus
and Comp divisions) public and private gyms throughout the city. After your
game, meet-up with your team mates and other CSSC players while enjoying
exclusive specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around Calgary. |
Who Can Play? |
Adults aged 18 and older can join the indoor
Volleyball leagues. All Volleyball divisions in the CSSC are co-ed and
self-officiated. Our leagues offer a variety of levels ranging from beginners
all the way up to skilled veterans. Our divisions include Recreational,
Intermediate, Intermediate Plus, and a Competitive division for very skilled
and experienced players. For a detailed description of the skill level
involved in each league please see below. We welcome full teams, small groups
(5 or more players but not a full team), friends (2-4 players) and individual
registrations. Small group, friends and individual registrations are combined
with other similar registrants to form a team that remains together for the
duration of the season. Click here for more info. |

INDOOR VOLLEYBALL DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS
|
Level
|
Description |
Recreational |
For new players or
teams with new players. Little bumping and setting. Teams will try for 3
hits. No hard hitting allowed. Team Goal: Get it over the net - it doesn't
matter how! |
Intermediate |
For
players and teams with a mixed skill level. Three hits is the goal, with
decent bumping and setting. Expect to see some hitting and blocking, although
hard hitting is not encouraged and you will typically not see strong or
organized attacks. If
at least three of your players have played high school volleyball you should
be signing up for Intermediate Plus or Competitive.
Team Goal: try to have 3 hits on every play. |
Intermediate Plus |
The majority of your
players should be able to pass with accuracy, otherwise you should register for intermediate or recreational. This level
will see 3 hits attempted each possession with the start of organized attacks
and hard hitting. Team Goal: Get it over the net in an organized 3 hit
strategy. If that falls through, place it well in the other court. |
Competitive |
This level is for
skilled and experienced players. This level will see a large amount of hard
hitting, organized attacks, and strategic serving. |
