General Overview: The SSC is looking for qualified trainers to instruct morning and evening fitness boot camps. This job will include writing fitness programs for groups of 5-15 people. The successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating, coaching, cueing and supervising a group of participants through a workout routine. Because the SSC is an adult sports league, a sporting aspect will also be incorporated into the boot camps, with specific drills and equipment being provided by the SSC. The qualified applicants will assist in creating programs suitable for every fitness and age group that incorporates all areas of fitness: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, core stability and flexibility. We are looking for instructors who can commit to a 6 week program with a specified group of registrants.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure all participants have completed a PAR-Q/Liability and a Health questionnaire prior to first class. Trainers are responsible for submitting this information to the SSC.
- Be prepared for each class with a prewritten fitness program that has incorporated a sporting aspect as instructed by the SSC.
- Have equipment/training facility ready for participants.
- Demonstrate exercises to participants.
- Instruct and coach participants through a series of exercises.
- Be aware of contra-indicators which may limit a registrant’s participation.
- Be able to regress and progress an exercise accordingly.

Start Date: Sessions begin on Sunday, January 18th 2009. The classes being offered are:

- Sunday PM (start times will vary between 6:30pm-7:30pm)
- Monday PM (start times will vary between 6:30pm-7:30pm)
- Tuesday PM (start times will vary between 6:30pm-7:30pm)
- Wednesday PM (start times will vary between 6:30pm-7:30pm)
- Saturday AM (start times will vary between 9:00am-10:00am)

Trainers can apply for one to five sessions per week, depending on their availability. Trainers are expected to be able to travel to a variety of locations throughout the city.

Completion Date: Each session will run for a total of 6 weeks. Sessions will not run on long weekend Saturday, Sunday or Mondays.

Hours: Each session will be 1 hour long. Trainers are expected to arrive at the facility 20 minutes before the session start time and may need to stay after the session for 10 to 15 minutes to answer questions and communicate with the participants.

Rate of Pay: Trainers will get paid $70 per session (a large portion of this will be paid as a bonus upon completion of the 6 week sessions). The trainer will have to successfully meet criteria outlined by the SSC to receive the bonus, this will include facility parameters, showing up to every class on time, communication with the SSC staff etc…).

Qualifications:
- Appropriate certifications (AFLCA, CPT, Canfit Pro, CSEP, CPR, First Aid, etc)
- Appropriate education (PT Diploma, Phys. Ed/Kines Degree etc)
- Reliable
- Responsible
- Good Time Management skills
- Good Communication Skills (able to communicate effectively with participants and SSC staff)
- Good Leadership skills
- Motivational
