Advisor Position Overview
Positions available: 1 Part-time
Position
General Overview: The Field Advisor will directly
assist the League Operations Manager with the administration of
the Games Coordinator (GC) program. The successful applicant will
be responsible for training, monitoring, and evaluating GCs within
the Calgary Sport and Social Club.
Start date: January 2009
Completion date: Permanent Position. The Field
Advisor will work year round, but the peak months will be from September
to April. Hours: 15-25 hours per week; 3-5 league night outings
(Sunday during the day and/or Monday to Friday evenings), 3-5 hours
in office daytime work depending on availability.
Rate of pay: $16-$18/hour
Responsibilities:
- Recruit new Games Coordinators to the Club
- Assist in hiring Games Coordinators, including initial phone interviews
- Partner with the League Operations Manager to run pre-season and
mid-season GC Meetings
- Regular phone or in-person meetings with the League Operations
Manager
- Daily visits to Games Coordinators at their shifts: provide support,
and training as needed
- Visit games of teams that are having sportsmanship issues
- Daily visits to facilities that have had previous issues: may
include talking to a caretaker or dropping off equipment
- Evaluate Games Coordinators and provide feedback
- Assist the League Managers with sportsmanship decisions for teams
that they have visited
- Send out the Weekly Newsletter to Games Coordinators
- Other responsibilities assigned by the League Managers
- In the Spring and Summer Seasons, the Field Advisor will visit
Slo-Pitch and Soccer games on a semi-daily basis to provide support
to players regarding rules and sportsmanship issues
Qualifications:
- At least one season of GC experience with the SSC
- Reliable
- Confident
- Assertive
- Respectful and fun
- Previous experience in a Leadership Role
