Hello from the CSSC Marketing Team,

The CSSC started up in 1996 with about 120 players and with your help, it has grown to where it is today.
As a thank you, we want to reward you for your continued support of our Club, and we want to hear your stories! Please see below for prizing and contest details.

For everyone that organizes a staff team, creates a CSSC facebook group, simply spreads word of mouth, or uses some other creative method, we want to hear from you!

Please submit your stories and let us know what you have done to promote the CSSC to your friends, family, co-workers or even to strangers. All submissions will be entered into a draw to win prizing from our sponsors, such as Sleeman beer, Sponsor Bar gift certificates or Russell Athletic clothing. There will also be prizes for the most creative/effective recruitment methods as voted by our staff. Draws will be made twice per season. The next draw will be made on July 31st.

Sylvan Lake Beach Volleyball Tourney - Calgary Takes the Lead

I attended my first Sylvan Lake Beach Volleyball Tourney on Saturday, June 21st, and I now understand why this tourney sells out faster than any other ones that we offer! After the crumby spring weather, what a treat to play beach volleyball in the sun (the way it should be)! Calgary takes the title and lead in the Battle of Alberta Series.

It was an early morning for the Sport and Social Club staff because we were all at the courts at 7:00am Saturday morning to set-up for the big day. Everyone was so busy that they didn’t even have time to change the music playlist that I had selected, which consisted of only Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls hits!

Players arrived at 9:15am and everything ran very smoothly! Many teams came in uniform, whether it be in capes, Baywatch outfits, homemade jerseys, or wearing not much at all, everyone looked great and were ready to play. We really lucked out with the weather because it was raining on the previous Friday and was pouring the next day.

The After Party was a blast! The Pier 7 management and staff worked very hard to organize this outdoor party, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. I’d also like to send a special thanks to our MC for the night, Matt. I’ve never heard the line, “that’s what she said…” so much in one day.

I’d also like to thank all of the players, staff and helpers, as well as apologize to the teams that did not get into this tourney.

The next Sylvan Lake Tourney is on September 6th. Sadly, there are no more Calgary spots available but we are still accepting waitlist teams in all divisions.

Sleeman Slo - Pitch Tourney - A Smashing Success

Well, it finally happened. The weather was on our side as we completed our first Sleeman Slo-Pitch Tourney of the year last weekend. This was the largest Slo-Pitch Tourney in CSSC history with 30 teams, crushing last years largest Slo-Pitch Tourney - consisting of only 18 teams.

This season’s first tourney was full of sun, beer, and pumping tunes. We even witnessed a few home runs in which players were awarded a complimentary beverage. Congratulations to Scared Hitless (Div A Champs), High Ballers (Div B Champs), Heartbreakers (Div C Champs) and the A-Bombs (Div D Champs). These teams were the proud recipients of CSSC Tourney Champs T-Shirts. On behalf of the CSSC, I would like to thank all teams who participated in last weekends Sleeman Slo-Pitch Tournament. Registration for the July 25-27th tourney is now open. I am looking forward to another fun day at the park. Hope to see you there!
