CSSC ULTIMATE INFORMATION

New for 2010

Please take note of the winter registration deadline of Tuesday, January 12th, 2010. Prior to this deadline, all registrants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; the closer to November 10th that you get your registration in, the better your chances are of making it into the league of your choice. After January 12th, if we require registrants, we will advertise any spots that are available.

General Description

Ultimate is an exciting, fast moving game, which combines the best aspects of football, soccer and basketball. It is a non-contact competitive team sport that is distinguished by its spirit of the game (the principles of fair play, sportsmanship, and the joy of play). It is easy to learn, fun to play and a great way to get fit! It's a 5 on 5 game, with a minimum of two females on the field at all times. Games are located throughout the city and are played on private rugby fields or City of Calgary large soccer fields. Four teams play at each field per night (2 matches each). All games have an Event Coordinator present to help facilitate games, but all players are expected to call their own fouls and manage the game. After your game,
enjoy CSSC specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around Calgary.

Who Can Play?

Adults aged 18 and older can join the Ultimate Frisbee leagues. We welcome full teams, small groups (5 or more players but not a full team), friends (2-4 players) and individual registrations. Small groups, friends and individual registrations are combined with other similar registrants to form a team that remains together for the duration of the season. Click here for more info.

ULTIMATE DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS

Level

Description

Recreational

This division is for teams or individuals who are new to the sport or wish to play in a league with a slower pace.

Recreational Plus

In this division you will find a good mix of new and experienced players. This division will have teams that have developed skills in catching and throwing but rarely use organized plays.

Intermediate

For novice level players and teams. If your team finished in the top half of the A division for Recreational, than this the league for you. You will also start to see organized plays in this division.

Intermediate Plus

This division is for teams or players that have a great deal of Ultimate experience. In this division you will see a large amount of organized plays and trick shots.

The above divisions are created based on skill level and not on competitive behaviour. All SSC players are expected to play with a ‘fun-first, winning second’ attitude. The SSC may move your team up or down a division based on seasonal results.
