CSSC Culture

Position Details

Positions Available: 1 permanent full-time position

Start Date: September 2017

Hours: A typical work week will consist of 5 days/week, 40-44 hours total.

• The Facility MLO will work with the Office MLO to ensure that there is managerial support during most business hours.
• The MLO will be required to be available to field phone calls after-hours as needed.
• Some weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities

This is an exciting full-time career opportunity. The CSSC is Calgary’s largest provider of adult recreational sports leagues, tournaments and events. The Manager of League Operations will have a significant impact on the success of our programs. This position will be challenging but very rewarding; only highly motivated people should apply. The primary areas of focuses will be:

1. Facility Management:
• Book facilities and communicate with facility or City staff.
• Form and manage facility relationships.
• Manage an efficient tracking file for facility bookings.
• Coordinate pre-season facility visits to ensure that facilities are ready.
• Work with facilities team to input permits, allocate facilities and reschedule cancelled games.
• Resolve facility complaints, issues and cancellations in a timely manner.
• Research and acquire new facilities each season.
• Ensure that new facilities are scouted and maps are filed.
• Ensure that facility ratings are up-to-date and being tracked properly.


2. League Operations:
• Plan and implement league dates, season durations and sport offerings each season.
• Promote new league offerings with Marketing and Management team.
• Work closely with senior management and other MLO’s to make day-to-day decisions and develop new league offerings.

• Ensure that all items in planning and tracking files are completed on time.

3. Staff Management:
• There are 3 full-time staff that the Field MLO manages, supports and mentors on a daily basis. The Player Liaison, Field Advisor and Facility & Leagues Coordinator.
• Oversee the management of our Games Coordinator program as well as the hiring, training and management of 2 full-time Field Maintenance employees during the spring and summer seasons. 
• Work closely with staff to ensure that goals and objectives are being met.
• Conduct weekly leagues meetings with staff (one-on-one and group based).

• Help plan and lead weekly staff meetings.

4. Special Projects:
• Work on sport improvement projects throughout the year.
• Work closely with the Program Development Manager to assist with projects.


 

Experience & Qualifications

Experience:
• A University degree.
• A leadership or management role in a previous work experience will be an asset (particularly from an office environment).
• High level of computer competence (Microsoft Excel).

Compensation Package

Rate of Pay:
* $63,000 - $64,000 inclusive of benefits
       - $58,000 base salary
       - $2,000 in performance bonuses
       - $1,000 - $2,000 in seasonal overtime pay
* Regular performance evaluations facilitate growth in responsibilities and compensation
* Two raises in year one typically equate to 6% - 10%
