What’s Wrong With You? Stretch!

Okay, listen up. We’re all adults here which means our bodies are not as limber as what they used to be. Don’t be fooled by the term ‘recreational’; recreational does not mean you are not still exasperating your muscles.

I’ve been there and I know I’m not alone. I’ve shown up to my Dodgeball games before and scoffed at those sitting down for a proper stretch. Who do these folks think they are? This isn’t HIIT Dodgeball, people. Guess what? I pay for that the next day, every time. I wake up feeling like I aged approximately 100 years over night and every step I take until when I get to sit down at my desk in the morning makes me want to cry.

Don’t follow in my footsteps, I promise there is no glory in this pain.

Here are 5 basic stretches every CSSCer should do before any of their games:

1. Quadriceps Stretch

2. Calf Stretch

3. Hamstring Stretch

4. Triceps Stretch

5. Shoulder Stretch

 

Take ten minutes and do these simple stretches before and after your game. Trust me, your body will thank you in the morning!
