One of the most common misconceptions people have about our ‘Sports League’ is that they are out of luck if they can’t register with a full team - that’s not true at all! Here at the Club we are happy to offer an opportunity to register as an Individual (Indy) and the Club does the heavy lifting of assembling a team for you.

For years we have watched as many of our Indy Teams progress throughout their seasons, not only growing together as a team, but also becoming friends. Nothing is better than having players tell us seasons later that their Individuals Team is still together and having more fun than ever! Not to mention, many of our staff (including myself) have experienced just that. The first couple of games of the season might make you a bit anxious, but you always need to remember that everyone is in the same boat as you are. New situations can be a bit intimidating, yet in the end you’re all there to have some fun.

I have loved playing on my Indy Teams, and here are a few ways to help you make the most of your Indy experience:

  • Get together: Arrange a pre-season get together before the first game and strategize over a few pints. My Fall Slo-Pitch team got together at one of our Sponsor Bars and used our Player Perks to get to know each other a little more before the league started. This helped to put faces to names and we kicked off our season with a bang!
  • Nominate a team captain: Select one person on the team to be the team captain, this person can help to send weekly reminders and get the team all geared up for a successful season. Don’t be afraid to nominate yourself as team captain - I promise it’s not as daunting as it sounds.
  • Team Colour: Select a team jersey or a team colour! Some sports require you to bring a light and a dark jersey, but for the sports that don’t selecting a team colour, or jersey, helps to make you feel more like a team.
  • Go for drinks: Go out after your games and get to know one another. You’d be amazed at how cool accountants can be with a pint of Wild Rose in their hand! You also get to make some amazing personal connections. Need your downstairs bathroom redone? Oh, hey - Chris on your team works for a home reno company.

After an amazing season together, why not register for the next season as a team? Or give one of our Tournaments a try as the new fabulous team you are. It’s almost shocking how fast a group of strangers can mesh!
