At the CSSC, while we try to ensure all leagues have the ideal number of teams (six to eight for single opponent sports), we also want all teams to have the ability to play each season. This means that at times, a certain league may run with only four teams rather than turning teams away from a league. Since this may not be the ideal league size, we try to ensure the experience remains positive by adjusting the league format.

In a smaller league, teams will naturally have to play their opponents multiple times. If teams play certain opponents more or less than others this can cause inequities in the standings and may be seen as an unfair advantage should there be a stronger team in the mix.

We don’t want one bad game to ruin your road to the championship, as such by having only one week of playoff or consolation games, it means the regular season matters because only the top two teams after the regular season can win the league. This also ensures that teams play all opponents two to three times giving all teams a better chance of earning the coveted shirts!

We hope you enjoy your season and adjusted format to accommodate your small but mighty league!
