GC of the Season Awards

Games Coordinators are essential to CSSC leagues and play a huge role in ensuring that all players enjoy themselves each and every night. The CSSC GC Team is continuously growing and although there are many excellent members out at the games, each season the Club recognizes a select few with the GC of the Season Award.

Each winner is nominated through player submissions, CSSC Staff recommendations, and/or based off the Field Staff Manager and GC Head Trainer evaluations. The goal is to award those that display a positive and friendly attitude, while at the same time getting involved with the games and providing players with the best experience possible.

Winter 2020

Games Coordinator Bio
Sam Francois - Basketball

Sports: Basketball, Multi-Sport, Soccer
Rookie Season: Fall 2019

I've been playing sports since I was 4. I started out by playing Soccer, and then eventually I started playing Basketball at around 12. Basketball has been the the first sport I would truly say I first loved, but ironically I had my most success in sports by running track in High School.

I always loved sports and growing up in Indiana, I had played Football and participated in sports such as Dodgeball, Volleyball and also Ball Hockey so I've always been versatile and willing to try and play any sport. I started working as a GC with CSSC in the Fall of 2019. I GC Basketball, Soccer and Multi-Sport. I would say I am willing to GC any sport if needed. It's been the most fun I've ever had working anywhere.

It's truly been a pleasure working for the company and getting to meet amazing people like Justin, Josh and Spencer and also all the players and captains throughout the sports I get to GC. I wanna thank Justin and the Head Trainers for electing me as a GC of the season. It's been a pleasure getting to know you buddy and I look forward to working with you for many more seasons!

Brandon McPherson - Dodgeball

Sports: Dodgeball,
Rookie Season: Fall 2015

I have been a GC since 2015. but have been playing Dodgeball with the CSSC for many years before that, so the CSSC has been a part of my life for a long time now and it has been great.  The teams and the staff of the CSSC have made the time GCing enjoyable and really time has flown by.  I have met many people through the CSSC who would I now call my friend which you can never have to many of.

Sports are a huge part of my life, whether its beating Justin in a game of NHL on the PS4 (when we aren't playing on the same team) or its cheering on the Calgary Flames or Tennessee Titans I love sport and the comradery that comes with it.  If I'm not doing that I am spending time with my amazing fiance, going to see movies and checking out different restaurants in Calgary.

Adnan Alibhai - Ball Hockey

Sports: Ball Hockey, Multi-Sport, Basketball, Soccer
Rookie Season: Spring 2019

I started working at CSSC just under a year ago and I have loved it. Sports is my life as I have played Hockey, Soccer, Football, and Tennis since I was young. I love working in sports because it my passion.

If I am not working, I am either at school at University of Calgary or watching the Leafs, Raptors or Patriots.

Thank you to Justin and my Head Trainers for putting myself in a position succeed and will continue to put my best efforts forward.

Emily Fedick - Multi-Sport

Sports: Multi-Sport, Dodgeball, Basketball
Rookie Season: Winter 2018

I started playing basketball with CSSC in 2013 and dodgeball in 2014. I am proud to say I am a two time dodgeball league champion, although I am still waiting to win my first basketball championship.

I started GC’ing during the Winter 2018 season, as I was looking for something new to try but was related to sports. I was injured at the time, so I wasn’t able to play anyhow.

Being a GC has been a great experience for me. I have met a lot of amazing people as well as have seen a lot of familiar faces. Being a GC has taught me to become more confident and assertive and has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, especially when a tough situation arises.

Outside of CSSC, I work full time for the provincial government and I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as playing basketball and dodgeball with CSSC. I am looking forward to continuing to work and play with CSSC for the foreseeable future.

Brinthan Balakumar - Soccer

Sports: Soccer, Basketball
Rookie Season: Spring 2019

This has been my fourth season as a GC and I have loved every moment of it.  After tearing my ACL playing soccer, I wanted to still be involved in sports while I recover and have been lucky enough to be a part of CSSC. I enjoy interacting with players and watching them have fun playing the sport they love. I have been an avid sports fan all my life and am a die-hard Washington Redskins & Toronto Raptors fan.

Thank you to my fellow colleagues (trainers, GCs, Justin) who assisted me in winning this award.
