What better way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter than to add a brand new Harry Potter themed offering to our Multi-Sport Line-up – Quidditch!
In this slightly less magical format, teams of 7 (1 keeper, 3 chasers, 2 beaters, and 1 seeker) will have a chance to run around with brooms and pretend they are riding the Nimbus 2000. On each team, 3 chasers and 1 keeper will work together to pass the quaffle through their opponents hoop, as well as defend their own hoop. When the quaffle is passed through the hoop 10 points are awarded. The 2 beaters primarily focus on throwing bludgers (dodgeballs) at the other team to knock them off of their brooms. When a player is hit by a bludger or loses control of their broom, they must drop the ball they are holding (if applicable), dismount their broom and touch their own hoop before they can re-enter the play.
After 17 minutes of game play, the Snitch is released. In this game the snitch is a player that runs around the field. After a minute head start for the Snitch, Seekers are then released to try and catch the Snitch. When the Snitch is caught, 30 points are added to the team who caught the Snitch and it signifies the end of the game.
If you didn’t register for Multi-Sport this Summer, you may need some Polyjuice potion to get in on the action. Hopefully we’ll see much more of this offering in seasons to come!
